We spent 2 nights at Jurys before and after a short trip to St Andrews. After spending a few nights in a tiny hotel room in London we were relieved to see our beautiful room in Edinburgh. We were on the 7th floor with an incredible view overlooking the other bank of the city. The room was large, comfortable, and the temperature was easily controlled. The bathroom was large and had squeezable bottles of soap at the sink and shampoo/body wash in the shower. The hair dryer was a little difficult to use because you constantly had to keep your thumb on the power button, but that was a minor inconvenience. The hotel was in a great location just a few blocks from the train station, down the steps from the Royal Mile, and just around the corner from a delicious tapas bar/restaurant. During our second stay we were on the 4th floor facing the alley which was a little noisier. We would definitely stay here again but would recommend asking for a room on the street side to get the better view.

The hotel is in an excellent location - just a very short walk from the Royal Mile - nice bar and restaurant - however, the rooms are very spartan - kinda like camping out - only hotel accomodation in memory where we had to buy our own shampoo and bath soap - bathroom small with a clingy shower curtain - (it wouldn't leave us alone) - little to small closet (no real closet) - and very noisy because of 24 hour train service - we'd pick more stars for a better hotel next time.

  • Good hotel for the money - but no washcloths!

Previous review is right -- shower controls are odd, but manageable. Excellent value for a decent hotel room in the UK. 3 minutes walk from the train station - 5 minute walk to Royal Mile. Bring your own washcloth -- the hotel does not supply them. Clean room, comfortable bed. I would definitely stay here again.
