My wife and I totally enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We enjoyed the location because it was not on the "main drag" and we felt like we experienced more of life in Bangkok that way. The staff was warm and friendly and the service was quick. The hotel is a little older but well kept. Everyone went out of their way to be of service. One tip that I learned from reading a previous review was to walk across the street to the 7-11 and grab a taxi off the street and only use the meter fare. The taxis at the hotel entrance wanted to set fees for certain trips that were always higher than actual fares. Ask for the business card with the hotel address and map on the back when you check in. This helps with taxi drivers to get you back there. Only negative was that the executive floor was currently under construction and not available in March 2009.

The Ramada D'Ma is an older hotel in an older part of the city. It is this reason that the hotel is a bit less expensive than others. It is still only about a 10 minute walk from a modern shopping mall and there are plenty of places to eat, shop, tailors, Thai massage, etc close by. The streets here are a bit crowded as they are older and narrower and in the evenings the local vendors open food carts and souvenier carts right beside the streets (nice for an authentic feeling). The hotel also includes a small restaurant that offers Thai style food along with other types. The prices here are very reasonable when compared to other restaurants in the area - not the typical ""gouge the money out of the guest"" pricing you get in the states. All in all, I would unhestatingly use this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone looking to save a bit of money while still getting a real nice room to stay in.

My wife and I stayed at the D'Ma for 9 days/nights...last of January and first week of February. We really enjoyed this hotel. We were a bit surprised because the D'Ma is not located in an ""upscale nighhborhood"" i.e. you are going to be in the middle of lots of street vendors, small shops, etc.,. But... the location turned out fine. You will be close to the Sky Way (BTS Sky), the Metro, and the River Canal boats... also the taxis, buses, and three-wheel open cabs are everywhere nearby. Lots of good shopping within walking distance. There is a fabulous ""western store"" for groceries/treats straight south of the D'Ma about 4-5 blocks near the Sky Way station. The breakfast ... it is great! If you do stay here take full advantage of the breakfast. The other dining facilities were fine also. It you have children you can get a great pizza and coke for 250 B... a good deal because the pizza will feed two people. You won't be disappointed if you book this hotel. Also... it's $15 to/from the airport. If you need a cheaper ride to the airport travel to the east end of the Sky Way and grab an airport bus. We've traveled all over Asia and stayed in lots of hotels... this one is a winner.

Apart from the little mishaps during the arrival and unprofessional display at the receptionist desk, I'd say an overall decent hotel to spend a few days in Bangkok at. Tailors, restaurants around the corner. However, chose to go to a recommended tailor in sukhumvit soi 8, Crown Tailors. Will come back unless i can be bothered to research a better hotel, which most likely, there is.
