  The rooms are new and very nice- they are actually quite large for a European hotel. Staff are very friendly, attentive and quick with responses. The restaurant with balcony over the Amstel was very cool. Overall this was an extremely positive experience, and we strongly recommend this hotel. The only drawbacks potentially are that it is a good walk to the nearest regularly departing tram and a VERY good walk to the Dam at the center of town, so if you are disabled from such walks, you might look for something closer in to the center. We liked the walks as they allowed us to see a lot things like the bridges, houseboats, etc. There is a theater very close to the hotel, the CARRE, which has stellar acts like the Bolshoi Ballet performing. Also the local branch of the Hermitage museum is very close, though presently under renovation.
